997.2 - 2009 to 2012
Installing 9HAUS 997 Matrix LEDs is easier than replacing your headlight bulb. Simply remove the old headlights, transfer your gaskets to the new ones and put the new 9HAUS headlights in the headlight bucket. Follow these easy steps:
- Take the headlight removal tool from the toolkit in the frunk
- Unscrew the plastic cap next to the headlight bucket
- Fold down the carpet to expose the holes into the headlight bucket
- Remove the rubber plug to access the headlight bracket access hole
- Insert the headlight removal tool into the hole and rotate the tool:
Passenger side (R): clockwise
Driver's side (L): counter clockwise
This will pop the headlight out
- Remove the headlight
- Remove the gaskets from the old headlight and attach to the new ones
- Insert the new headlight into the headlight bucket, making sure the pins on the bottom side of the headlight go into the rails in the headlight bracket
- Push the headlight all the way in. The plug behind the headlight will automatically plug in
- Rotate the headlight tool in the opposite direction until you hear the "click" that locks the headlight in:
Passenger side (R): counter clockwise
Driver's side (L): clockwise
Differences between 997.1 and 997.2 models:
997.1 Models:
On 997.1 cars, you won't get any error codes. Since the headlight plug does not have power from parking lights on 997.1, a separate wire that comes with your headlights needs to be plugged into the fuse box.
997.2 Models: The Matrix DRL's work right out of the box on 997.2 cars. On some 997.2 cars you may get an error code, which is easily erased with a code reader.
The video below shows installation of the headlights on a 997.1 car and how to connect the DRL wiring to the fuse box:
Adjustment of the 9HAUS headlights is super easy, and exactly the same as factory headlights. All you need is a 5mm allen wrench that is longer than 5 inches. We suggest to follow the steps outlined in your owners manual:
